Verify your download before running it. In PowerShell:

The output must match the checksum above exactly. If it doesn’t, delete the file and download again from GitHub only.

All releases and their checksums live on the GitHub Releases page. ProofWipe is only distributed there. Treat copies from anywhere else as untrusted.

Installing on Windows

Heads up: because this is a fresh independent release, Windows SmartScreen may show a “Windows protected your PC” message the first time you run it. That is Windows being cautious about a new publisher, not a problem with the file. Click More info, then Run anyway to continue. You can confirm you have the genuine file by checking its SHA-256 against the one listed on this page.

First run

  1. Copy ProofWipe.exe to a USB stick (or run it from anywhere on the machine).
  2. Launch it. Windows will ask for Administrator elevation; that’s required for raw disk access.
  3. The Free tier is active immediately: NIST Clear, 10% verification, single drive. Pro keys are applied in-app under “Manage license”, fully offline.
